Director of Development
Full-Time
Location: Remote (U.S.-based). May require travel.
The Director of Development will work closely with the Director of Programs and Marketing Director to lead and scale Global Works Trust’s fundraising and revenue growth strategy.
The primary purpose of this role is to expand the organization’s financial capacity to:
Onboard and serve more children through our youth programs
Execute and complete high-impact organizational projects
Sustain and scale both domestic and international initiatives
This leader will be responsible for building and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that drives revenue growth across individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and campaign initiatives. The Director of Development will report directly to the Executive Director and serve as a key strategic partner in advancing the organization’s mission and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising Leadership
Design and implement a comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational growth goals.
Establish clear revenue targets and develop actionable plans to meet and exceed them.
Lead capital campaigns, major fundraising initiatives, and long-term donor development strategies.
Build scalable systems that support sustainable revenue growth.
Donor Development & Major Gifts
Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors, high-net-worth individuals, and philanthropic partners.
Develop and manage a strong pipeline of prospective donors across multiple giving levels.
Lead direct solicitation efforts, including major gifts, annual giving, and campaign contributions.
Strengthen donor retention through meaningful engagement and stewardship strategies.
Institutional & Corporate Partnerships
Develop and manage relationships with foundations, corporations, and institutional funders.
Oversee grant strategy, including prospect research, proposal development, and reporting.
Expand partnerships that align with Global Works Trust’s mission and programmatic priorities.
Build strategic alliances with churches, community organizations, and philanthropic networks.
Campaigns, Events & Revenue Growth Initiatives
Lead planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals and digital giving initiatives.
Oversee development of donor engagement events, including vision dinners and fundraising gatherings.
Build and manage sponsorship programs for events and organizational initiatives.
Evaluate campaign performance and optimize strategies for growth.
Collaboration with Marketing & Programs
Partner with the Marketing Director to develop compelling donor messaging and fundraising materials.
Ensure alignment between fundraising strategy and organizational storytelling.
Collaborate with the Director of Programs to translate program impact into donor-facing narratives.
Support development of case-for-support materials and donor communications.
Board & Executive Leadership Engagement
Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to advance fundraising priorities.
Support and guide Board members in donor engagement and solicitation efforts.
Present fundraising strategies, progress reports, and revenue forecasts to leadership.
Provide regular updates on donor pipeline, campaign performance, and financial growth.
Donor Systems, Reporting & Stewardship
Ensure accurate tracking and management of donor data within CRM systems.
Develop and implement donor stewardship programs that strengthen long-term relationships.
Monitor fundraising performance and provide data-driven insights to leadership.
Maintain transparency through regular reporting on fundraising outcomes and impact.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or related field) preferred.
5+ years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience with demonstrated success in revenue growth.
Proven ability to cultivate and secure major gifts and manage donor relationships.
Broad understanding of fundraising strategies including:

Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in international nonprofit or faith-based organizations.
Experience leading capital campaigns or scaling fundraising operations.
Familiarity with donor CRM systems and fundraising analytics.
Passion for serving children, families, and underserved communities.
