Finance & Compliance Manager
Full-Time | Nonprofit Finance Leadership
Location: Remote (U.S.-based). May require travel.
As Finance & Compliance Manager, you will oversee core financial operations while ensuring the highest standards of fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, and financial transparency across Global Works Trust’s domestic and international programs. This role is critical to sustaining donor confidence, maintaining regulatory integrity, and supporting the organization’s ability to scale responsibly across borders. You will play a central role in strengthening financial systems, ensuring grant compliance, and building operational discipline that enables long-term, mission-driven impact.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across U.S. and international programs
Implement and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure accountability
Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial standards, IRS requirements (including Form 990), and international regulatory frameworks where applicable
Oversee grant compliance, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funds, monitoring spend-down, and ensuring alignment with donor requirements
Coordinate annual audits and support implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions
Prepare cash flow projections and support long-term financial planning and capital strategy
Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, integrity, and mission alignment
Maintain and optimize financial systems and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms)
Oversee financial reporting for international operations, including foreign currency considerations and coordination with in-country partners
Present financial insights, dashboards, and reports to Executive Leadership and the Board of Trustees
Support development and fundraising teams with financial data for grant proposals, donor reporting, and capital campaigns
Monitor compliance risks and proactively identify areas for operational and financial improvementRegional Program Leadership & Strategy
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (Master’s or CPA strongly preferred)
5–8+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, including supervisory responsibilities
Strong knowledge of fund accounting, and nonprofit compliance requirements
Experience managing grant funding, donor-restricted funds, and financial reporting for nonprofit organizations
Familiarity with international nonprofit operations, including multi-currency accounting and cross-border financial oversight preferred
Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Excel skills
Experience supporting audits, tax filings (Form 990, 1099s), and regulatory reporting
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Preferred Experience
CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
Experience in faith-based or international development organizations
Familiarity with donor compliance standards from foundations, institutions, or government funding
Experience implementing or improving financial systems and internal controls
Knowledge of financial forecasting for growing or scaling organizations
Compensation will be commensurate with experience ($60,000 to $70,000), geographic location, and qualifications. At Global Works Trust, financial leadership is directly tied to mission impact.
